The Auckland Council is inviting applications for the Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board Excellence Award.


The Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board set up the Pursuit of Excellence Award to:

  • support local residents and organizations who will represent the area to demonstrate their outstanding achievements in their chosen field

  • recognize and celebrate the contributions of the local applicants.

The award aims to:

  • increase the profile and image of the Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board area

  • assist applicants to build their capacity in serving the community

  • promote diverse participation in local government and civic life

  • foster the development of a sustainable workforce for local industry and surrounds

  • strengthen the development of community unity in Ōtara-Papatoetoe.

Funding priorities

They welcome grant applications that align to the following priorities:

  • Growing the local economy.

  • Park and public spaces are accessible, safe and pleasant.

  • Better:

    • parks and facilities for sports and recreation

    • neighborhood amenities

    • experiences for pedestrians and cyclists.

  • Revitalizing town centers

  • Developing public facilities

  • Pleasant neighborhoods, programs and events that promote:

    • healthy living

    • cultural diversity

    • education

    • environmental protection.

    • Community facilities fit for purpose.

    • Community -led development.

  • Enabling young and old to participate in employment, education, training and community service.

Funding Information

Grant value: $150 - $2000

Eligibility

This award is open to people who:

  • are New Zealand residents or citizens living in the Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board Area

  • show:

    • excellent and outstanding achievements

    • leadership potential or community contribution during the past 12 months

  • have been accepted to attend a conference or event either in New Zealand or overseas that will develop their leadership potential.

  • Those who receive an award must provide a written report to the board.
