The Women's Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) has launched a call for proposals to support local women's and youth civil society organizations in Colombia to enhance their active participation and leadership on climate security and justice issues.

This call seeks to support projects that enhance women’s participation and leadership in preventing climate-related conflicts and injustices, as well as in socio-economic recovery and political decision-making in peacebuilding contexts related to climate security and climate justice. The call is also open to support local women’s and youth rights organizations working in these areas through institutional funding. 

Objectives and Purpose 
  • This call is opened with the purpose of providing funding and strengthening the capacities of Local non-governmental organizations, women's and victims' networks and civil society organizations in Colombia, focused on increasing women's participation and leadership in the prevention of conflicts related to insecurity and climate injustice as well as in decision-making in public affairs and the economic development of co-responsible and sustainable environments linked to climate security and justice. 

  • The call specifically contributes to the overall objective of the WPHF, in terms of contributing to peaceful and gender-equal societies.

  • Initiatives should target women and girls who suffer multiple and intersecting forms of discrimination, such as those excluded for reasons of geography, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, age, migration status, HIV status, among others, and which is aligned with the 2030 Agenda and the principle of “leaving no one behind.”

Funding Information
  • WPHF seeks to fund local organizations that meet certain requirements in Colombia through the following funding modalities:  

    • Programmatic financing from USD 30,000 to USD 200,000 

      • To finance programmatic activities of civil society organizations with the aim of: 

        • Increasing women's meaningful participation and decision-making in conflict prevention and response processes and

        • Enhancing the socio-economic recovery and political participation of women and girls in peacebuilding contexts

    • Institutional financing from USD 2,500 to USD 30,000 

      • Strengthen the institutional capacity of women's rights and women-led organizations working on climate-related conflict prevention and/or economic and political decision-making in climate justice and security efforts in Colombia to ensure they can sustain themselves and strengthen their impact.

Scope (Location)
  • The WPHF will finance projects in the departments of the Pacific Coast, in particular Cauca, Chocó, Nariño and Valle del Cauca. Proposals that are not framed within this geography will not be accepted. However, proposals are encouraged to include exchanges of experiences with organizations from other territories not prioritized by the call. Proposals may focus on one or more Departments/Municipalities, according to the geographic focus of the Call.  

Ineligibility Criteria
  • The following are not eligible to apply for a WPHF grant:

    • International NGOs;

    • Government agencies or institutions; 

    • UN agencies or UN country teams;

    • Private individuals;

    • Private sector entities;

    • Universities, think tanks or educational or research institutions;

    • Organizations that are not registered in Colombia cannot apply as the main applicant organization (but can apply in a consortium in the programmatic mechanism). 

Eligibility

  • National, regional or local/grassroots, women- or youth-led, women's rights, youth rights, feminist or civil society organisations with a proven track record of working with women, young women and girls are eligible to apply. 

  • Women-led organisations facing multiple and intersecting forms of discrimination are encouraged to apply, including those victims of forced displacement, women with disabilities, ethnic minorities, etc.
