On World Eco-label Day, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), with financial support from the Global Environment Facility (GEF), announced a public call for support in awarding the Eco-label for tourism accommodation services in rural households in Serbia.

The purpose of this call is to support sustainable rural tourism by enhancing the capacities of accommodation owners to operate in accordance with the principles of the circular economy. The Eco-label is a license issued by the Ministry of Environmental Protection based on multiple criteria, confirming that services and/or products are environmentally friendly. 

Funding Information

• Prizes will be awarded to the winners of the first three Eco signs, after the Ministry of Environmental Protection issues an act granting the right to use the Eco sign.

• The prize will be awarded to entities that perform catering activities in hospitality facilities for accommodation, located in rural areas in the Republic of Serbia, in equipment that contributes to the ecological functioning of accommodation facilities - in accordance with the individual needs of each awarded user, in the value of:

  • 10,000 US dollars for the first awarded Eco label,

  • 8,000 US dollars for the second awarded Eco sign i

  • 5,000 US dollars for the third awarded Eco label.

• Only one prize can be awarded per entry.

• Prizes are awarded exclusively in the form of goods, i.e. in the form of equipment that contributes to the sustainable operation of catering establishments for accommodation, in accordance with the principles of the circular economy.

• For the first ten applicants for the eco-label, UNDP will bear the costs of the expert field visit of the Commission members and the costs of compiling the report, and the only financial obligation of the applicants is to pay an administrative fee in the amount of RSD 26,030.00.

Eligibility

• This call is intended for companies, other legal entities, entrepreneurs, who perform catering activities in catering establishments for accommodation, which are located in rural areas in the Republic of Serbia and are registered in the e-Tourist system, with the aim of applying the principles and values ​​of the circular economy in practice.
