The U.S. Mission to Belarus Public Diplomacy Section is excited to announce the availability of funding through its Public Diplomacy Small Grants Program.
Goals
The goal of this NOFO is to support and empower marginalized communities in Belarus by promoting shared values, human rights, democratic institutions, and economic growth through strategic and impactful programs.
This initiative aims to foster a more inclusive, resilient, and democratic society by addressing key issues such as cultural preservation, political prisoner support, community strengthening, and the empowerment of disadvantaged groups, women, and youth.
By encouraging private sector growth and entrepreneurship, the program also seeks to counter non-market and coercive economic practices, ultimately contributing to a more prosperous and freer Belarus.
Objectives
Promote and Protect Belarusian Culture:
Support projects that preserve and promote Belarusian culture, language, and heritage.
Encourage cultural exchanges and activities that foster national pride and cultural awareness.
Support Political Prisoners and Their Families:
Provide assistance to programs that support current or former political prisoners and their families.
Facilitate legal, psychological, and social support services for affected individuals.
Strengthen Local Communities:
Fund initiatives that bolster the resilience and cohesion of local Belarusian communities.
Promote community-driven development projects that address local needs and challenges.
Empower Disadvantaged and Minority Communities:
Support programs that aid disadvantaged and minority groups, ensuring their inclusion and participation in societal development.
Promote equal opportunities and access to resources for marginalized populations.
Promote Women’s Empowerment and Entrepreneurship:
Fund initiatives that empower women through education, leadership training, and entrepreneurial support.
Encourage women’s participation in economic activities and decision-making processes.
Support Youth Inclusion:
Support programs that engage and include youth in societal and economic development.
Promote youth leadership, education, and vocational training opportunities.
Encourage Private Sector Growth and Entrepreneurship:
Fund projects that stimulate private sector growth and entrepreneurship to counter non-market and coercive economic practices.
Support initiatives that foster innovation, business development, and economic diversification.
Funding Information
Awards may range from a minimum of $5,000 to a maximum of $50,000
Duration
Length of performance period: 6 to 18 months
Target Audience
The program is designed for Belarusian civil society organizations, educational institutions, independent media outlets, activists, and independent religious organizations.
Eligibility
The following organizations, U.S. and foreign, are eligible to apply:
Registered not-for-profit organizations, including think tanks and civil society/non-governmental organizations with programming experience
Individuals
Non-profit or governmental educational institutions
Public International Organizations
For-profit or commercial entities are not eligible to apply.
