The U.S. Embassy in Manama has announced a Notice of Funding Opportunity to support events and activities celebrating the 250th anniversary of American Independence through initiatives that highlight American excellence across various fields.

Showcase American leadership, talent, and expertise in artistic, athletic, and entrepreneurial fields in the build up to the 250th anniversary of American Independence on July 4, 2026. Programs that educate, engage, and unite the world around the shared values and history. Multimedia exhibits that inform audiences about the U.S.-Bahrain relationship and shape the future. Educational and media partnerships that tell the story of American Independence. Musical, athletic, artistic performances/collaborations between American and Bahraini experts. Programs that create people-to-people ties through American excellence and entrepreneurship in fashion, design, culinary arts, or other creative fields. Building awareness and understanding of America’s achievements and leadership in science and innovation (AI, space, cybersecurity), business and technology. Programs that place American talent into the existing calendar of Bahraini cultural events and raise awareness of U.S.-Bahrain relations.

The initiative titled “America @ 250 – Bringing American Excellence to Bahrain” is open to individuals and non-profit entities in Bahrain and the United States. It encourages proposals for in-person and media-based programming that educates and engages Bahraini audiences with the stories, contributions, and achievements of the United States in the lead-up to July 4, 2026.

The funding ranges from $10,000 to $80,000 with a performance period of up to 12 months. Projects should be implemented between October 2025 and October 2026. Proposals should aim to integrate American experts into existing cultural events in Bahrain and promote creative collaboration in areas such as arts, music, sports, science, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

Eligibility

Applicants are encouraged to propose initiatives that align with public diplomacy objectives and strengthen people-to-people connections. Strong proposals will include clear goals, defined evaluation metrics, and demonstrate the potential for long-term impact. While cost-sharing is not mandatory, it is encouraged and will be viewed positively during evaluation.

The selected project will be implemented in coordination with the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Manama, including collaboration on press and social media engagements related to the funded activities.
