Apply for International Travel Fund - Market Development
About
Creative Australia is inviting applications for the International Travel Fund: Market Development (ITF-MD) 2026, a funding opportunity designed to support Australian artists, authors, illustrators, creative practitioners, and arts organisations in attending significant international market development events and professional networking opportunities. The program aims to strengthen the global visibility and export potential of Australian arts and culture by enabling participation in international performing arts markets, book fairs, biennials, major art institutions, contemporary art spaces, and strategic meetings with international partners. Grants are available in fixed amounts of AUD 5,000, AUD 10,000, AUD 15,000, or AUD 20,000 to support travel-related and participation costs. Eligible expenses may include flights, accommodation, per diems, ground transportation, travel insurance, visas, freight and baggage, event registration, marketing and promotional activities, project management, publicity, childcare, carer and accessibility costs, and measures to reduce environmental impact. Particular priority is given to literature-focused activities at major international book fairs and to authors and illustrators participating in events related to the international publication of their work. The program supports activities that build international networks, develop new markets, and increase opportunities for creative exports. Funding is not available for touring, exhibitions, presentations, residencies, research activities, or projects without a clear market development objective.
Eligibility
Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents, or Australian organisations operating within the arts and cultural sector. Internationally based organisations may also apply where they can clearly demonstrate benefits for Australian artists and creative practitioners. Applicants are limited to one submission per application round and must be registered in the application management system at least two business days before the funding deadline. For literature-related applications, authors and illustrators seeking support for international publication activities must demonstrate backing from an international publisher or literary agent. Applications will be assessed on their potential to strengthen international market engagement, expand professional networks, create export opportunities for Australian creative work, and deliver meaningful outcomes for the Australian arts and cultural sector.
