The GTF Olympiad Grants provide annual sponsorships to organizations managing national and regional math and science Olympiad programs worldwide. Established to strengthen the pipeline of talent for competitions such as the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) and the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), the program recognizes Olympiads as vital platforms for identifying and nurturing exceptional STEM potential. Research shows that Olympiad medalists are disproportionately represented among major scientific prize winners, underscoring the importance of early identification and sustained development of scientific talent.

Funding supports programs at different stages of development, including national Olympiad structures, regional competitions, and initiatives outside the IMO/IOI pipeline such as other STEM Olympiads or gifted education projects. Sponsorships are renewable annually, with flexibility to pause or resume based on organizational progress and capacity. First-time sponsorships typically begin at USD 10,000 per year, while Lead Sponsorships—offered by invitation to established partners—range from USD 20,000–30,000 annually, with optional three-year agreements.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants are organizations from countries that have participated in the IMO or IOI in at least two of the last three years, as well as regional competitions serving such countries. Programs outside the IMO/IOI pipeline may also apply if they focus on STEM Olympiads or gifted education. Applicants must demonstrate organizational capacity to manage Olympiad activities and align with the program’s mission of fostering measurable, sustainable impact in STEM talent development. Lead Sponsorships are extended by invitation to established partners with proven track records.
