Request for Proposals: ERC Consolidator Grant Programme
About
The European Research Council (ERC) Consolidator Grant Programme supports excellent researchers who are strengthening their scientific independence by consolidating their own research team or research programme. Open to all fields of science and scholarship, the programme promotes frontier research and encourages interdisciplinary approaches that address ambitious scientific questions. Funding of up to EUR 2,000,000 is available for projects with a duration of up to 60 months, with the possibility of requesting additional funding of up to EUR 1,000,000 for eligible costs or up to EUR 2,000,000 for Principal Investigators relocating from outside the EU or an Associated Country, subject to evaluation and justification. Research projects must be hosted by an eligible institution in an EU Member State or Associated Country and may support a wide range of research-related activities necessary to establish, strengthen, and lead an independent research programme.
Eligibility
Applicants must be Principal Investigators who have successfully defended their PhD between 1 January 2012 and 31 December 2021 and who have not previously received an ERC Starting Grant or ERC Consolidator Grant of the same type. Researchers of any nationality and any age may apply regardless of their current country of residence, provided they carry out the proposed research at a Host Institution established in an EU Member State or Associated Country. Eligible Host Institutions include public or private legal entities such as universities, research organisations, undertakings, and international European research organisations. All scientific disciplines are eligible, and interdisciplinary proposals are particularly encouraged. Funded Principal Investigators must spend at least 40% of their working time in an EU Member State or Associated Country and dedicate at least 50% of their working time to the ERC-funded project. Applications will be evaluated on the scientific excellence of both the Principal Investigator and the proposed research project, including the justification for any requested additional funding.
