Japan Fund for Global Environment Grants Program
About
The Japan Fund for Global Environment (JFGE) provides grant funding to support environmental conservation initiatives implemented by nonprofit organizations in developing countries. The fund aims to advance environmental protection and sustainable development in countries listed as DAC Official Development Assistance (ODA) recipients. Grant applications are reviewed by the JFGE Management Council in accordance with the fund’s Grant Policies and Procedures, which also determine project selection and funding allocations. Projects should focus on environmental conservation activities that contribute to improving environmental conditions and promoting sustainability in eligible developing countries. Applications for Fiscal Year 2027 must be submitted online between 13 October and 16 November 2026 using the official application forms, and all submission documents must be completed in Japanese.
Eligibility
Applicants must be nonprofit organizations that carry out environmental conservation activities in developing countries recognized as DAC ODA recipients. Organizations based outside Japan are eligible to apply provided they appoint an agent in Japan who maintains a Japanese bank account and is able to communicate with JFGE both verbally and in writing in Japanese. All applications are subject to review by the JFGE Management Council, which evaluates proposals and determines funding decisions and grant amounts in accordance with the established JFGE Grant Policies and Procedures.
