Grant Size $100,000 to $500,000   ,   Closing Date

About

The AASM Foundation Strategic Research Grant (SRG) 2026 supports investigator-initiated research aimed at advancing patient-centered diagnosis, treatment, and care for individuals with sleep disorders. The program seeks to address critical evidence gaps that limit the delivery of optimal, cost-effective, and high-quality sleep health care, while fostering innovative research with the potential to improve patient outcomes globally. Funding is available across three grant categories to accommodate projects of varying scope and duration: Category I provides up to USD 250,000 for projects of up to three years; Category II offers up to USD 100,000 for projects of up to two years; and Category III awards up to USD 50,000 for projects lasting one year. The initiative has a global geographic scope and supports research activities that generate new knowledge, address strategic priorities in sleep medicine, and contribute to improved diagnosis and care for people affected by sleep disorders. Indirect costs are limited to 8% of the total award, and grants are administered through a contractual agreement between the AASM Foundation and the recipient institution.

Eligibility

Applicants must be sleep scientists holding a master’s degree or higher, including but not limited to MA, MS, MSN, MPH, MD, DO, DDS, DMD, DNP, DNSc, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent qualifications. Researchers from any country may apply, provided that their sponsoring institution is able to receive grant payments in U.S. dollars. Individuals with financial conflicts of interest related to the proposed research, current members of the AASM or AASM Foundation Boards, and applicants residing in countries subject to U.S. sanctions are not eligible. Applications will be assessed based on their potential to address significant knowledge gaps in sleep medicine, advance patient-centered and cost-effective care, and generate meaningful improvements in outcomes for individuals living with sleep disorders.
