Apply for Epic MegaGrants to Support Innovative Unreal Engine Projects
About
Epic MegaGrants (EMG) is a global funding program established by Epic Games to support innovative projects that advance real‑time 3D development using Unreal Engine and related technologies. The program provides financial assistance to creators, developers, educators, and innovators across diverse fields including game development, Unreal Editor for Fortnite Creative Islands, film, television, live events, architecture, automotive, manufacturing, simulation, product design, advertising, VR/AR, and education. It also supports tools and open‑source initiatives that strengthen the real‑time 3D ecosystem or enhance open‑source software capabilities with Unreal Engine.
Grants range from $5,000 to $75,000, with exceptional projects eligible for up to $150,000. Funding is designed to help projects reach their next stage of development while allowing recipients to retain full ownership of their intellectual property and publish their work freely. Eligible activities include prototype development, creative content production, educational curricula and university programs, and technical tools that expand the Unreal Engine community.
Eligibility
Epic MegaGrants is intended for smaller teams, solo developers, and innovators. Eligible applicants include indie game developers, creators building Unreal Editor for Fortnite experiences, teams transitioning projects from other engines to Unreal Engine, and developers working on tools or open‑source projects that advance the real‑time 3D community. Game development submissions must be beyond the concept stage and include at least a working prototype, preferably demonstrated through video. Complex projects in film, television, and other industries should provide detailed plans and prototypes. Educational applications are accepted from degree‑granting institutions and educators affiliated with those institutions.
