Call for EOIs: Protection and Wellbeing of Conflict-Affected and Displaced Children (Nigeria)
About
The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) invites applications from qualified organizations to deliver integrated child protection services for conflict-affected and displaced children and their families in Sokoto State, Nigeria. The initiative responds to identified protection risks among internally displaced populations, including unaccompanied and separated children, child-headed households, psychosocial distress, disrupted education, and limited access to essential protection services. The program aims to strengthen protective environments through case management for children at heightened risk, family tracing and reunification, mental health and psychosocial support, referral pathways to specialized services, and support for birth registration and legal identity. Activities should also reinforce community-based child protection structures and government-led social welfare systems while ensuring child safeguarding and the best interests of children throughout implementation. The geographic focus is Sokoto State, particularly conflict-affected and displacement-affected communities across the identified local government areas. Expected outcomes include individualized case management for at least 200 unaccompanied and separated children, psychosocial support services for at least 10,000 affected children, and the establishment or strengthening of ten community-based child protection committees. Grant size and project duration were not specified in the call information.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants are organizations legally registered and capable of implementing child protection interventions in Nigeria, particularly in conflict-affected and displacement settings. Applicants should demonstrate technical expertise in child protection programming, including case management, family tracing and reunification, mental health and psychosocial support, referral services, and community-based protection approaches. Organizations must have the operational capacity to work in Sokoto State and collaborate effectively with local communities, government social welfare systems, and relevant protection actors. Proposals will be assessed based on their technical quality, implementation capacity, relevance to identified child protection needs, ability to achieve the expected results, safeguarding measures, and alignment with child rights principles and the best interests of children.
