The Food Systems, Land Use and Restoration (FOLUR) Indonesia Project, funded by the Global Environment Facility and implemented by UNDP and FAO in collaboration with the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs, is inviting applications for a Low Value Grant (LVG) to support the development and strengthening of sustainable coffee and palm oil value chains in Central Aceh and Mandailing Natal Districts, Indonesia. The grant aims to catalyze innovative public-private and public-private-community partnerships that improve market access, mobilize sustainable finance, strengthen smallholder livelihoods, and generate measurable environmental benefits through sustainable production and landscape management approaches. The initiative places a strong emphasis on gender equality and social inclusion by promoting the participation of women and youth in cooperative leadership and supporting women-led and youth-led green enterprises. Eligible projects may include landscape and beneficiary assessments, partnership development, sustainable value chain enhancement, certification and market access initiatives, sustainable financing mechanisms, capacity building, pilot business models, monitoring, knowledge sharing, climate-smart and regenerative agricultural practices, traceability and digital solutions, and community-based restoration activities. The total funding available for the two target districts is USD 450,000, with grants disbursed in tranches based on approved deliverables and supporting documentation. Supported projects are expected to contribute to environmental conservation, biodiversity protection, sustainable economic development, and the long-term sustainability of commodity production systems.

Eligibility

Applicants must be legally recognized entities in Indonesia and may include civil society organizations, community-based organizations, private local universities, local research centers, and cooperatives. Organizations must demonstrate a minimum of three years of relevant experience in Indonesia in fields such as forest conservation, community-based natural resource management, rural development, or closely related areas. Proposals must identify at least one committed private sector partner and include evidence of that commitment. Applicants are expected to demonstrate adequate financial and managerial capacity, as well as technical expertise in areas relevant to the call, including sustainable commodity value chains, smallholder organization and engagement, market access, sustainable finance, and compliance with sustainability standards. During the assessment process, consideration will be given to the applicant’s institutional capacity, partnership approach, technical quality, ability to deliver measurable environmental and socioeconomic outcomes, and potential to support sustainable, scalable, and investment-ready solutions within the coffee and palm oil sectors.
