The Hinrich Foundation, an independent Asia-based philanthropic organization, invites applications for its International Trade Research Program. This initiative supports researchers and research organizations undertaking projects that advance understanding of global trade issues and contribute to policy development. The program promotes mutually beneficial and sustainable trade through rigorous research and policy engagement.

Priority research areas include trade governance, geopolitics of trade, foreign direct investment, global supply chain resilience and security, digital trade, innovation and technology, trade and environmental sustainability, workforce and education, industrial competitiveness, economic development, natural resources in trade, and trade logistics and services.

Funding is negotiable and may be provided in full or partial support, typically disbursed upon project completion. The Foundation reserves the right to publish research outputs. Projects are expected to deliver high-quality research products within agreed timelines, contributing to informed trade policy and practice across international contexts.

Eligibility

Applications are open to researchers and research organizations worldwide. Proposals must demonstrate the credentials of the researcher(s), outline major trade-related themes and key research questions, specify the proposed methodology, deliverable format, and provide a clear timetable for completion. Successful applicants will be selected based on the relevance, rigor, and potential impact of their research in advancing global trade understanding and policy development.
