RFPs: Holohil Grant Program

Grant Size $1000 to $10,000   ,   Closing Date

About

The Holohil Grant Program provides in-kind support to conservation professionals and researchers worldwide through wildlife tracking transmitters that advance scientific knowledge and species conservation. Selected projects receive Holohil transmitters valued at up to CAD$2,500 per quarter, with shipping costs covered by Holohil (import duties and taxes remain the recipient’s responsibility). Awards may be distributed among multiple applicants if individual project needs are lower than the full award value, and credits can be applied toward larger transmitter orders.

The program prioritizes projects that make significant use of Holohil transmitters for data collection, contribute to scientific understanding, and strengthen conservation outcomes. Initiatives involving underrepresented species, high research or conservation value, or those integrating public engagement and education are particularly encouraged. Holohil also supports sustainability by refurbishing and redistributing used transmitters. Applications are reviewed quarterly by an impartial committee of scientists, biologists, and conservation professionals, with technical guidance provided by Holohil staff. Successful applicants must submit a concise project report (up to 500 words) with photos documenting transmitter use, which may be featured on the Holohil Grant Recipients page.

Eligibility

Applications are open to conservation professionals and researchers globally, regardless of scientific background. Each project may submit only one application per quarter, though principal investigators may apply separately for different projects. Proposals are evaluated on the necessity of transmitters, feasibility, scientific merit, urgency, public education impact, and potential for broader conservation outcomes. Only winning applicants are notified directly, with results also posted on the Holohil website and social media.
