RFAs: Drought-Responsive Nourishing Futures - Scaling Child Wasting Relief (Papua New Guinea)
About
The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) is seeking partners to implement the Drought-Responsive Nourishing Futures (DRNF) Project, a nutrition-focused initiative designed to reduce child wasting and strengthen nutrition systems in drought-affected communities across Papua New Guinea. The project responds to the growing burden of malnutrition and the impacts of El Niño-related drought on food security and access to essential services for children and families in vulnerable and hard-to-reach areas. Aligned with national preparedness and response priorities and guided by the Government of Papua New Guinea’s El Niño Southern Oscillation Taskforce, the initiative will be implemented in five drought-affected provinces. The project aims to combine emergency nutrition response with longer-term prevention, treatment, and system-strengthening efforts. Key activities include improving access to high-impact nutrition interventions, strengthening community-based nutrition and childcare practices, training health workers and Village Health Assistants, supporting nutrition service delivery at facility and community levels, utilizing Early Childhood Education centres for integrated nutrition and health interventions, strengthening nutrition supply chains, promoting behaviour change through community and church-based engagement, and supporting nutrition policy reviews, supervision, and quality assurance. The indicative grant budget is PGK 3 million, with an expected project duration of two years.

Eligible applicants must demonstrate proven experience in partnering with government institutions to deliver health and nutrition services.
