About

The Cultural Function and Production Grant Scheme, initiated by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, supports organizations dedicated to preserving and promoting Indian cultural heritage, arts, literature, research, music, dance, and theatre. The scheme funds a wide range of creative and developmental activities, including conferences, seminars, workshops, symposia, festivals, exhibitions, dance and drama productions, surveys, pilot projects, cultural publications, and small research initiatives on Indian culture. Geographically focused within India, the program generally provides financial assistance covering up to 75 percent of the total project expenditure, with a standard maximum grant of Rs. 5 lakh per project. However, in exceptional cases demonstrating outstanding merit and relevance, funding may be enhanced up to Rs. 20 lakh upon approval from the Ministry.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants include not-for-profit organizations, NGOs, societies, trusts, and universities that have been registered and actively functioning for at least three years under relevant legislation, such as the Societies Registration Act, Trusts Act, or Companies Act. Religious institutions, schools, colleges, and standard college or university festivals are strictly excluded from funding. Applicants must possess a properly constituted managing body with a written constitution defining its powers, and they must demonstrate the necessary facilities, personnel, resources, and experience to implement the project effectively. Additionally, NGOs and voluntary organizations must be registered on the NITI Aayog NGO Darpan Portal and provide their Unique ID alongside their PAN number. To qualify, organizations must secure matching resources covering at least 25 percent of the total project cost. Evaluation preference is given to applicants with a proven track record of organizing similar cultural activities and events.
