RFPs: Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation Project Funding
About
The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation supports institutions worldwide in advancing and promoting New Music through diverse initiatives such as festivals, concerts featuring premieres and revivals, sound art installations, composition commissions, symposia, musicological publications, academies, and educational programs. Special emphasis is placed on projects that foster innovation, engage diverse audiences, and make contemporary music accessible to children and young people. Funding is awarded to projects of exceptional artistic quality, regardless of scale, with priority given to artistic costs. Grants are provided as partial financing, requiring applicants to secure at least one additional institutional partner contributing a comparable amount. A complete cost and financing plan must accompany all requests, even when support is sought for only part of a project.
Eligibility
Applications are accepted exclusively from organizing institutions, not individuals. Each institution may submit only one application per deadline and receive support for one project per calendar year, with a maximum of three projects supported across three consecutive years. The Foundation does not fund marketable music productions, internal university projects, or dissertation projects. Applications must be submitted online in German or English and include a detailed budget plan along with up to eight pages of supplementary material such as concert programs, biographies, or symposia details. Letters of intent from key participants and venue confirmations are required. For projects featuring works by young or lesser‑known composers, exemplary scores and recordings must be provided. All supplementary materials must be accessible via a permanent cloud link included in the application form.
