CFAs: Developing Inclusive Education Materials for Teachers in Guinea-Bissau
About
UNICEF invites civil society organizations to partner in the development and institutionalization of inclusive education materials for pre-service and in-service teacher training in Guinea-Bissau. The initiative supports ongoing national education-sector reforms that prioritize inclusive education and seek to improve access, participation, and learning outcomes for children with disabilities and other learners facing barriers to education. The project will develop four thematic training modules comprising eight manuals for trainers, teachers, educators, and trainees, produced in Portuguese and made available in accessible, editable digital formats, with additional accessibility formats considered as needed. The materials will promote learner-centered and inclusive teaching approaches, including Universal Design for Learning, differentiated instruction, curriculum adaptation, inclusive assessment, and multisensory teaching methodologies, while aligning with national curricula and teacher-training reforms. Activities will include the development, validation, adaptation, and contextualization of training resources for both pre-service and continuing professional development programs, as well as institutional strengthening of the Directorate-General for Inclusive Education through enhanced coordination, monitoring capacities, and the design of an operational framework for a potential Inclusive Education Resource Centre. The geographic focus is Guinea-Bissau. Grant size and project duration have not been specified in the call.
Eligibility
Applicants must be eligible civil society organizations with the technical and operational capacity to design, develop, validate, and adapt inclusive education and teacher-training materials within the context of Guinea-Bissau’s education system. Organizations should demonstrate experience in inclusive education, teacher professional development, curriculum development, educational content production, accessibility standards, and stakeholder engagement within the education sector. Proposals will be assessed based on their technical quality, relevance to national education and teacher-training reforms, understanding of inclusive education principles, capacity to deliver accessible and contextually appropriate learning materials, and ability to strengthen institutional capacities related to the coordination and monitoring of inclusive education initiatives.
