RFAs: Support for Japanese Language Education Institutions for Daily Life and Employment
About
The Support for Japanese Language Education Institutions for Daily Life and Employment Grant (SJLEI) 2027 is offered by the Japan Foundation to strengthen Japanese-language education for individuals preparing to live and work in Japan. The program supports organizations in countries where the Japan Foundation Test for Basic Japanese (JFT-Basic) is administered but where the Japan Foundation does not maintain an overseas office. Through partial subsidies, the grant helps improve access to quality language instruction by covering the purchase of teaching materials and the printing and binding of the IRODORI: Japanese for Life in Japan textbook. The initiative primarily benefits prospective migrants and workers planning to enter Japan under the “Specified Skilled Worker” or “Employment for Skill Development” residence categories. Funded projects must be implemented between 1 April 2027 and 31 December 2027 and should contribute to developing the practical language skills required for daily life and employment in Japan. Grant funding is provided on a partial-cost basis to support eligible educational activities that would be difficult to undertake without external financial assistance.
