Direct Aid Program Small Grants for Community Development in Pakistan

Grant Size $10,000 to $100,000   ,   Closing Date

About

The Direct Aid Program (DAP) 2026–27, administered by the Australian High Commission in Islamabad, provides small grants to support community-led development initiatives across Pakistan. The program complements Australia’s broader development cooperation efforts by funding projects that improve economic and social development outcomes and enhance the welfare of local communities in OECD-recognized ODA-eligible contexts. For the 2026–27 funding cycle, priority areas include gender equality, climate change, human rights, and governance. Grants of up to AUD 60,000 are available per project, with applications for projects valued at AUD 40,000 or less strongly encouraged. Applicants are encouraged to contribute at least 25% of total project costs. Projects may be implemented for up to two years and may include activities that deliver sustainable and measurable development benefits to local communities. The program does not support commercial or profit-generating activities, cash grant or microcredit schemes involving repayment, ongoing operational expenses such as salaries and utilities, land rental, vehicle purchase and operation, or sporting and cultural events that lack a clear development objective.

Eligibility

Applications are open to entities registered in Pakistan, including local community groups, community-based organizations, national and international NGOs, international and multilateral organizations, educational institutions, research organizations, and other eligible registered entities. Applicants must demonstrate appropriate organizational registration, risk management, and safeguarding systems, and propose projects that align with the strategic priorities of the Australian High Commission. During assessment, the DAP Committee will consider the strength of partnerships, the clarity of the link between the identified development challenge, proposed activities, and expected community outcomes, the project's sustainability, and the feasibility of implementation within the maximum two-year project period. The Australian High Commission may request additional information from applicants as part of the review process.

Deadline Date: November 18, 2026
