About
The King Hussein Cancer Award’s Professional Development Program for Cancer Care Excellence supports outstanding cancer-focused initiatives in the Arab region that advance the knowledge, skills, and professional capabilities of cancer care specialists. The program recognizes initiatives engaged in clinical research, professional training, and educational development, with a strong emphasis on institutional capacity building, structured mentorship, and collaboration among institutions across the Arab world. Priority is given to programs demonstrating measurable institutional, national, or regional impact in strengthening the cancer care community. The award is open to programs operating within the Arab region and provides annual recognition at the King Hussein Award Ceremony in Amman, Jordan, along with a grant prize of USD 30,000 awarded to one selected program each year. Supported activities may include professional education, clinical research training, mentorship initiatives, institutional partnerships, and other structured efforts that enhance cancer care excellence in the region.
Eligibility
Applicants must be actively engaged in the field of cancer care and affiliated with an academic institution or accredited hospital located in the Arab world. Eligible programs must have been operational for at least three years and demonstrate measurable impact supported by relevant data and evidence. Programs are required to maintain clearly published criteria for participant enrollment and certification and must include a structured mentorship plan for both trainees and faculty members. Multiple applications from the same institution are permitted. Preference is given to programs with national or international accreditation and to initiatives that demonstrate a sustained institutional role in strengthening cancer care capacity and fostering cross-institutional collaboration within the Arab region.
