Grant Size More than $1 million   ,   Closing Date

About

The Afghanistan Emergency Call for Proposals 2026, launched by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), seeks to support humanitarian interventions responding to the protracted crisis in Afghanistan, where humanitarian needs remain acute. The call is aligned with the Afghanistan Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan and is designed to complement ongoing relief efforts across the country. Funding is available through two lots: Lot 1 focuses on health interventions, while Lot 2 supports integrated actions in health, gender equality, and agriculture and food security. Projects should improve safe and equitable access to essential services and humanitarian assistance for crisis-affected populations, with particular emphasis on women and girls, children, persons with disabilities, internally displaced persons, returnees, and host communities. Eligible activities include the delivery of essential and emergency healthcare services, nutrition assistance, prevention and response to gender-based violence, emergency food assistance, and support for agricultural and livestock-based livelihoods. The maximum grant amount is EUR 1,300,000 under Lot 1 and EUR 1,800,000 under Lot 2. Projects may be implemented for up to 12 months under Lot 1 and up to 18 months under Lot 2, with activities taking place in Afghanistan.

Eligibility

Applicants must be nonprofit organizations with demonstrated humanitarian experience in Afghanistan, relevant technical expertise in the proposed intervention sector(s), and the operational capacity to implement activities within the country. Organizations included on the AICS eligibility list may apply directly. Local or international nonprofit organizations that do not maintain an operational base in Italy are also eligible, provided they have a pre-existing collaboration agreement with an organization registered on the AICS list. Joint applications are permitted through an Association of Specific Purpose (ATS). During the evaluation process, consideration will be given to applicants’ humanitarian experience, sectoral competence, implementation capacity, and the coherence and complementarity of the proposed interventions with existing humanitarian efforts in Afghanistan.
