CFPs: National Catalytic Organisation for Uganda ICCA-GSI Phase II
About
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Uganda, under the Global Support Initiative (GSI) of the Global Environment Facility Small Grants Programme (GEF SGP) Operational Phase 8, seeks applications to implement national catalytic support for Indigenous Peoples’ and Community Conserved Areas (ICCAs) in Uganda. The initiative aims to strengthen the recognition, conservation, and sustainable governance of territories and areas conserved by Indigenous Peoples and local communities through a range of national-level interventions. Activities include conducting a national ICCA baseline assessment, facilitating stakeholder consultations, prioritising landscapes, developing the Phase II strategy, and supporting implementation through participatory mapping, ICCA registration, monitoring, and national policy dialogue. The grant provides funding of up to USD 44,000 for a 25-month implementation period from November 2026 to 2028, including an initial strategic foundation phase followed by national catalytic support activities. The programme focuses on Indigenous Peoples and local communities across Uganda and seeks to enhance institutional, policy, and conservation outcomes related to ICCAs.
Eligibility
Applicants must be legally established indigenous Ugandan organisations, including non-governmental organisations (NGOs), community-based organisations (CBOs), and civil society organisations (CSOs). Eligible organisations should demonstrate the capacity to coordinate national-level conservation and community engagement processes, facilitate stakeholder participation, and implement activities related to ICCA governance, mapping, registration, monitoring, and policy dialogue. Applications will be assessed based on organisational relevance, technical expertise, implementation capacity, and the ability to effectively deliver the objectives of the national catalytic support programme for ICCAs in Uganda.
