Request for Applications: Individual Farmers Grants (Lebanon)
About
The Climate-Smart Matching Grants Facility (CSMGF), implemented under the Green Agri-food Transformation for Economic Recovery Project, supports the transition to climate-smart agriculture in Lebanon by helping agricultural producers improve productivity, resilience, sustainability, and market access. The grant facility is administered by the Council for Development and Reconstruction on behalf of the Lebanese Republic, with technical leadership from the Ministry of Agriculture and the General Directorate of Cooperatives, and implementation support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). This first call is part of a multi-round funding facility that will issue several calls over a two-year period. Funding is available for investments in climate-smart infrastructure and productive assets, including irrigation systems, renewable energy solutions, greenhouses, processing and storage facilities, agricultural machinery, dairy equipment, livestock and poultry production, beekeeping, planting materials, certification, packaging, rehabilitation of damaged assets, raw materials, and marketing activities. Raw materials may account for up to 15% of the grant value, while marketing activities may account for up to 10%. Grants for individual farmers range from USD 500 to USD 5,000 and require a beneficiary matching contribution of 20% of the grant amount, reduced to 10% for women’s cooperatives. In addition to financial support, selected beneficiaries will receive training in financial literacy and cooperative governance, as well as assistance in strengthening market access. Projects must be implemented within a maximum period of eight months and are targeted at agricultural stakeholders across Lebanon.
Eligibility
Applicants may include formally registered agricultural cooperatives, farmers’ associations, and individual farmers located in Lebanon. Cooperatives must operate within the agriculture or agri-food sector and demonstrate compliance with the facility’s registration, operational history, and financial reporting requirements. Applicants must also show their capacity to provide the required matching contribution and successfully implement the proposed investment. Proposals will be assessed based on their alignment with climate-smart agriculture objectives, expected contribution to agricultural productivity and resilience, feasibility of implementation, and the applicant’s ability to manage grant funds effectively. Additional eligibility conditions, documentation requirements, and category-specific criteria for cooperatives, farmers’ associations, and individual farmers are detailed in the official application annexes.
