CFAs: Enhancing STEM/STEAM Teacher Education and Professional Development (Palestine)

Grant Size $100,000 to $500,000   ,   Closing Date

About

Enabel is inviting applications from eligible Palestinian higher education institutions to establish and institutionalize practice-oriented STEM/STEAM teacher education pathways that strengthen the preparation of future teachers and support the induction of newly recruited teachers in Palestine. Building on previous investments in STEM education, teacher training, and school-based learning resources, the initiative seeks to create stronger links between higher education teacher preparation and the professional development of newly appointed educators. The funded action must establish two complementary pathways within a single institution: a pre-service pathway for teacher education students and an induction pathway for newly recruited teachers referred by the National Institute for Education and Training (NIET). Activities should promote inclusive, learner-centred, interdisciplinary, inquiry-based, and hands-on STEM/STEAM teaching approaches through practical classroom experience, mentoring, and supervised practicums. Pathways must be formally recognized, prepared for accreditation, and integrated into the institution’s long-term educational framework. Projects are limited to the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and must benefit at least 50 higher education students, 50 newly recruited teachers, and 25 education professionals. Grants range from EUR 50,000 to EUR 100,000 (approximately USD 54,000 to USD 108,000), with no co-financing requirement. Project implementation must last 10 to 14 months, followed by a three-month close-out and reporting period, and the overall grant period must not extend beyond 30 June 2027.

Eligibility

The lead applicant must be an AQAC-accredited Palestinian university or higher education college registered with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) and legally established in Palestine as a public institution, private non-profit entity, or foundation. Applicants must demonstrate active engagement in pre-service teacher education and possess the institutional capacity to design, pilot, certify, and sustainably institutionalize the proposed STEM/STEAM pathways. Co-applicants must comply with the same applicable legal, organizational, and establishment requirements in Palestine. During assessment, proposals will be evaluated based on their ability to deliver high-quality, inclusive, and practice-oriented teacher education pathways, ensure institutional sustainability and accreditation readiness, strengthen connections between teacher preparation and induction, and achieve the targeted outreach and impact for future and newly recruited teachers.
