Submit Applications for PFH's India Fund

Grant Size $10,000 to $100,000   ,   Closing Date

About

The India Fund provides financial support to small, local NGOs in India working with vulnerable and marginalized communities in priority regions. The program emphasizes community‑led development, encouraging organizations to place disadvantaged groups at the center of designing and leading solutions that address inequality. Strategic aims include enabling NGOs to implement community‑centric programs, empowering communities to drive their own development, supporting systemic change, and strengthening organizational and individual capacity to achieve these objectives.

Funding is available for initiatives serving communities with limited access to education or health services, Dalit groups engaged in hazardous work, persons with disabilities (particularly children), families living in extreme poverty, tribal communities struggling for land and resource rights, and women. The fund supports organizations that help these groups build on their strengths and foster leadership within their communities.

Grants range from ₹10,00,000 to ₹40,00,000, with a typical duration of one to two years. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and assessed biannually in March and October. Only direct applications from eligible NGOs are considered.

Eligibility

Applicants must be local Indian NGOs with valid Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) registration. The fund supports work only in designated priority areas, specifically the states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, Assam, and culturally identifiable regions in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan facing extreme poverty. Applications submitted through consultants or fundraisers are not accepted. Proposals are evaluated based on organizational eligibility, geographic focus, and alignment with the fund’s objectives.
