Call for Proposals: WASOP3 Programme Pillar 3
About
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is inviting proposals under the WASOP3 Programme to strengthen the management and operationalisation of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) established between 2020 and 2026 across West Africa. Funded by the European Union, the programme supports marine conservation efforts and the sustainable management of coastal and marine ecosystems throughout the region. Grants of up to EUR 200,000 are available for projects with an implementation period of 12 to 18 months. Funding is intended to support activities that enhance the effective functioning, management, and operational capacity of eligible MPAs, contributing to long-term biodiversity conservation and sustainable coastal resource management.
Eligibility
The call is open to non-governmental organisations (NGOs), public institutions, universities, research institutes, and other eligible entities operating within West Africa. Applicants must demonstrate the capacity to implement project activities that contribute to the operationalisation and effective management of Marine Protected Areas established between 2020 and 2026. Proposals will be assessed based on their relevance to the programme’s conservation objectives, expected contribution to sustainable marine and coastal management, and the applicant’s ability to successfully deliver the proposed activities within the specified project timeframe and budget.
