About

This funding opportunity, managed by the World Food Programme, provides rapid and coordinated emergency food assistance to vulnerable households and community kitchens in Peru to strengthen food security during climate-related crises driven by El Niño. The program addresses severe risks such as floods, landslides, and droughts that threaten local livelihoods and food access, targeting over 100,000 highly vulnerable individuals in high-risk areas who lack adequate coverage from existing response mechanisms. Priority locations include Tumbes, Piura, Lambayeque, La Libertad, Ayacucho, Cuzco, and Lima, with activities designed to complement government-led interventions. The funding scope supports unconditional cash assistance for up to 25,000 vulnerable households and food cards for up to 250 community kitchens. Eligible activities also encompass educational initiatives to strengthen participants' knowledge of healthy diets, nutrition, food safety, breastfeeding, infant feeding, and nutritious meal preparation, alongside the identification and referral of at-risk children and women to health services.
