The Amphibian Ark Emergency Grants provide rapid funding to address urgent threats facing amphibian conservation. The program supports two main areas: emergency response to unanticipated major equipment failures in existing ex situ conservation programs, and emergency rescue of wild amphibian populations at imminent risk of extinction. Funding is limited and available throughout the year, with priority given to past Amphibian Ark grant recipients.

Eligible activities include immediate interventions to repair or replace critical equipment essential for maintaining ex situ populations, and urgent rescue operations for wild populations under severe threat. Applications must demonstrate the conservation significance of the proposed work, outline long‑term plans for species recovery or reintroduction, and provide clear evidence of the emergency. Grants are intended to cover direct costs of emergency action, with applicants required to submit a detailed budget distinguishing Amphibian Ark’s contribution from other funding sources. Projects must include a timeline, institutional support letter, and supporting documentation such as photographs or diagrams.

Eligibility

Applicants must be institutions or organizations actively engaged in amphibian conservation, with the capacity to implement immediate emergency measures. For equipment failure requests, applicants must provide evidence of the failure, its cause, corrective actions, and preventive measures. For wild population rescues, applicants must explain the nature of the threat, its reversibility, long‑term species management plans, and potential for reintroduction.

All applications must include a project budget, timeline, and institutional endorsement. Successful applicants are required to provide institutional bank account details and sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MOU) with Amphibian Ark prior to fund transfer. A brief progress report with photographs must be submitted within six months of receiving funding.
