Terra Foundation Convening Grants 2026 – Call for Applications

Grant Size $10,000–$25,000   ,   Closing Date

About

The Terra Foundation Convening Grants (TFCG) 2026 support symposia, workshops, and conversations that foster interdisciplinary and intercultural exchange on the visual arts of the United States and Indigenous arts of North America. The program aims to deepen knowledge, build relationships, and generate new perspectives across global and local networks. Focus areas include advancing research in American art and professional practice, addressing historical and contemporary issues, expanding diverse voices and narratives, and catalyzing inclusive practices that reflect the breadth and complexity of American art histories. Convenings may be held in-person, virtually, or in hybrid formats, and can be supported at both early planning and advanced project stages.

Funding ranges from $10,000 to $25,000 and may cover planning and implementation costs such as professional fees, honoraria, artist fees, travel, audiovisual support, interpretation and translation services, catering, dissemination of research, marketing, outreach, administrative expenses, and indirect costs. Up to $5,000 may additionally support the publication of proceedings or related materials within one year of the event. The program is intended for scholarly, professional, and targeted audiences, rather than general public events, festivals, residencies, travel grants, or commercial projects.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants must be organizations with United States 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status or an international equivalent. Individuals are not eligible to apply. Applications are welcomed from arts centers, community-based cultural organizations, foundations, museums, research centers, and universities worldwide. However, organizations that have received a Terra Foundation grant within the previous year or two grant cycles are not eligible. Proposals will be evaluated on their ability to advance inclusive histories, diverse perspectives, and meaningful dialogue among artists, scholars, and communities.
