The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) invites proposals from organizations to strengthen protection, inclusion, and empowerment of forcibly displaced persons, individuals at risk of statelessness, and host communities in Burkina Faso. This initiative contributes to strategic priorities such as enhancing the protection environment, fostering community empowerment, promoting social cohesion, and advancing durable solutions.

Activities under this call will include protection monitoring, identification and referral of at-risk individuals, improved access to protection and social services, prevention and response to gender-based violence, child protection, and the reinforcement of community-based protection mechanisms. Interventions will also promote peaceful coexistence, community leadership, and institutional capacity building of local organizations, including those led by displaced or stateless persons.

Expected outcomes include strengthened monitoring at entry points and migration routes, enhanced prevention and response to gender-based violence, increased community participation and accountability, expanded access to health and education for displaced youth, and improved mechanisms to prevent and respond to sexual exploitation and abuse. The program will further support early identification and referral of individuals with specific needs, family reunification, and durable solutions that prioritize the best interests of affected children and communities.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants must demonstrate technical expertise in protection monitoring, mixed migration, community protection, case management, gender-based violence, and community engagement. Organizations should have proven project management capacity, established local presence, and the ability to operate in complex and hard-to-reach areas. Applicants must maintain strong partnerships with local authorities and communities, robust financial and risk management systems, and effective community feedback and accountability mechanisms. The capacity to contribute resources in cash or in kind, alongside ensuring the safety and security of staff and beneficiaries, is required for consideration.
