CFPs: Innovative Analytical Platforms for Faster and More Accessible Vaccine Manufacturing

Grant Size $500,000 to $1 million   ,   Closing Date

About

The Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) is seeking applications to accelerate the development and deployment of innovative analytical platform technologies that can be applied across multiple vaccine modalities to support faster, scalable, and globally accessible vaccine production during viral outbreaks. The program contributes to CEPI’s goal of enabling vaccine availability within 100 days of an outbreak by advancing technologies that reduce the time and cost of vaccine product release through automated, rapid, and deployable analytical solutions, while also expanding vaccine characterization capabilities across diverse vaccine platforms. Proposed solutions should be broadly applicable to modalities such as RNA, protein-based, and viral vector vaccines and address multiple quality attributes and assay types. The total call budget is USD 10.7 million. Funding is available through a two-stage structure, including up to USD 200,000 for a 12‑month proof-of-concept phase and up to USD 800,000 for an 18‑month development phase for successful projects. Projects may receive up to USD 1 million in total funding over a maximum duration of 30 months. Supported activities include the development, validation, optimization, and deployment of analytical technologies that improve vaccine manufacturing efficiency, speed, and global accessibility.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants include individual organizations or consortia developing analytical technologies that are either already established in non-vaccine applications or have a clear pathway to commercialization within three years. Proposed technologies must demonstrate the potential to significantly reduce the time, cost, and technical expertise required for vaccine analytics while offering broad applicability across vaccine platforms and manufacturing settings. Applications must present a realistic development plan that aligns with the program’s timeline and budget requirements and clearly demonstrate the expected impact on accelerating vaccine manufacturing, product release, and equitable global access to vaccines.
