The Fund for Innovation in Development (FID) provides ongoing support to organizations and collectives developing innovative solutions to reduce poverty and inequality in low- and middle-income countries. FID welcomes proposals across all sectors and stages of development, offering tailored funding for activities such as prototyping, piloting, rigorous impact evaluation, early scaling, and public sector deployment. The program is designed to foster innovation that can deliver sustainable improvements in the lives of disadvantaged populations.

FID offers six funding stages, ranging from preparation grants of up to €50,000 to transition-to-scale grants of €1.5–4 million. Additional opportunities include pilot grants (up to €200,000), pilot and scale-up positioning grants (up to €1.5 million), and specialized grants of up to €500,000 for Innovation and Public Policy or Proof of Impact and Public Policies. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, ensuring continuous access to funding for promising initiatives.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants include organizations and collectives operating independently or within consortia. Projects must be implemented in countries classified as low- or middle-income according to the OECD DAC list, excluding Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger. Individual applicants and international organizations are not eligible. Proposals are assessed based on evidence of impact, cost-effectiveness, and potential for scaling innovations.
