CEPF Biodiversity Assessment Grant Opportunity (Ecuador)
About
The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF), with support from the German government through KfW, invites Letters of Inquiry from civil society organizations to lead the final assessment of biodiversity conservation efforts in the Ecuadorian portion of the Tropical Andes Biodiversity Hotspot. This initiative aims to evaluate investment results against portfolio indicators, identify key factors and challenges influencing outcomes, assess unexpected impacts, and facilitate knowledge exchange among CEPF-funded projects. The selected organization will coordinate closely with the Regional Implementation Team (RIT) and the CEPF Secretariat to organize a three-day evaluation workshop in Quito, Ecuador, scheduled for February 2027. Responsibilities include workshop planning, participant coordination, logistics, agenda development, and preparation of proceedings.
Funding is available under the Large Grants category, ranging from US$50,001 to US$70,000, with project implementation covering the organization and delivery of the final evaluation workshop. Eligible activities include logistical support for approximately 35 participants traveling from multiple regions across Ecuador, as well as facilitation of knowledge-sharing and feedback for updating the Tropical Andes ecosystem profile. Applications must be submitted exclusively through the ConservationGrants electronic portal; email or other submission methods will not be accepted.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants include non-governmental organizations, universities, private companies, and other civil society entities legally authorized under national law to receive international donor contributions and maintain their own bank account. Government-owned enterprises or institutions may apply only if they demonstrate legal independence, authority to receive private funds, and inability to claim sovereign immunity. Proposals will be evaluated based on organizational capacity to manage workshop logistics, facilitate multi-stakeholder engagement, and deliver a comprehensive final assessment aligned with CEPF’s conservation objectives.
