Call for Expression of Interest: CSO Engagement in Polio SIA Payments (Nigeria)
About
UNICEF invites Expressions of Interest from locally established civil society organizations (CSOs) to support supplementary polio immunization activities (SIAs) in high-risk locations across Nigeria. The initiative aims to strengthen the response to circulating variant poliovirus type 2 and type 3 outbreaks by facilitating timely and traceable campaign payments, verifying the implementation of campaign activities, and ensuring accurate supporting documentation for review and audit purposes. The program focuses on vulnerable children in high-risk, hard-to-reach, and underserved communities where misinformation, vaccine hesitancy, insecurity, campaign fatigue, and socio-cultural barriers continue to affect immunization efforts. Proposed activities may include payment facilitation, monitoring and verification of campaign implementation, real-time submission of monitoring checklists, support for spot checks, documentation and liquidation processes, as well as complementary interventions related to advocacy, communication, social mobilization, vaccine management, cold chain logistics, and vaccine waste management. The partnership is designed to complement existing government and UNICEF-led campaign coordination mechanisms. No specific grant amount or project duration has been indicated in the call.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants are credible civil society organizations with an established local presence in the targeted intervention areas of Nigeria. Applicants must demonstrate the operational capacity to facilitate campaign-related payments, maintain reliable documentation and record-keeping systems, and support monitoring, verification, and accountability processes. Organizations should have the ability to implement activities effectively in priority locations and provide timely reporting, including real-time monitoring data and supporting documentation required for review and audit. Applications will be assessed based on organizational credibility, local field presence, payment facilitation capabilities, documentation and monitoring systems, and overall capacity to support successful implementation of supplementary polio immunization campaign activities.
