This call for applications, managed by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) Amman Office under contract number 70002433, aims to foster socio-economic recovery and drive sustainable local development across Jordan through the preservation, restoration, and promotion of key cultural heritage and archaeological sites, specifically targeting locations such as Mukawer and Abila. Implemented within the framework of European Union delegated cooperation, the initiative leverages heritage preservation to catalyze local economic growth, expand sustainable tourism, and generate durable livelihood opportunities. Proposed interventions combine physical site conservation, infrastructure safety, and landscape protection with structured capacity-building, workforce training, and community engagement to ensure long-term cultural and economic sustainability.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants must be legally registered non-profit entities, civil society organizations, non-governmental organizations, or academic and research institutions operating in full compliance with local regulatory frameworks in Jordan and the donor’s standards. Applicants must demonstrate proven technical expertise in heritage conservation, sustainable tourism, or community-based local economic development, alongside the institutional and financial capacity to manage public grant funding. Interventions must directly target vulnerable local populations—with a strong focus on empowering women and youth—and foster multi-stakeholder collaboration alongside local authorities, community members, and relevant public institutions such as the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Department of Antiquities.
