About

The Al Madad Foundation is inviting eligible civil society organisations to submit innovative, cost-effective education project proposals that improve access to safe, high-quality formal education for refugee and displaced children and youth in the Middle East.

This funding opportunity invites civil society organisations to propose innovative, practical education projects that improve access to safe, high-quality formal education for refugee and displaced children and youth in the Middle East.

The core focus areas and objectives of this call include making education safe and accessible, improving the quality of education, building strong systems to support education delivery, addressing specific gaps in existing educational and protection systems, creating direct pathways into formal education, and delivering innovative solutions that respond to persistent barriers faced by refugee and displaced children and young people.

The fund seeks projects with a total budget of up to £100,000 and a maximum duration of three years, with a strong emphasis on in-person learning and formal education pathways. Proposed interventions must directly benefit refugee and displaced children and youth, particularly those aged between 5 and 18, and should be tailored to the realities of the country or area where displacement has occurred. Education offered through these projects must be of high quality and structured in a way that allows children to transition into recognised schools, colleges, or other formal learning institutions.

Innovation is a central requirement, and projects must demonstrate new approaches to overcoming long-standing challenges that prevent children from accessing education. Existing projects may only be considered if they are entering a clearly defined new phase of development that introduces a demonstrably innovative component. AMF must be the exclusive donor for the proposed innovation, and organisations are expected to show strong value for money, clear implementation capacity, and robust monitoring and feedback mechanisms, including methods for gathering service-user input.

Eligibility

Preference will be given to sustainable projects or those with a clear and appropriate end point, initiatives that enable regular communication and reporting to AMF, and programmes that avoid duplication of existing services in the field. All projects must be non-religious in aim, comply with child protection standards, and be delivered by registered charities or eligible institutions capable of meeting reporting and safeguarding requirements.
