Call for Proposals to Strengthen Women’s Political Leadership in Bangladesh

Grant Size $100,000 to $500,000   ,   Closing Date

About

The UN Women has launched a call for proposals under the “Her Vote, Her Seat” campaign to strengthen women’s political participation and inclusive democratic reform in Bangladesh.

A powerful opportunity is now open for civil society organizations in Bangladesh to drive democratic reform that centers women’s voices and leadership. The “Democratic Reform through Inclusive Participation” (DRIP) project, led by UN Women in partnership with UNDP and funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, is inviting proposals that advance women’s political participation, representation, and leadership.

The call aims to support interventions that strengthen democratic processes to be credible, transparent, and inclusive. It encourages proposals that combine evidence, communications, policy engagement, and community mobilization to elevate women’s political roles. Projects may include formative research, campaign development, capacity‑building, public dialogues, storytelling, and targeted advocacy to shift social norms and encourage women to take seats of decision-making.

Funding for each project is expected to fall between 9,000,000 and 12,150,000 Bangladeshi taka. The project duration is 14 months, running from October 2025 to November 2026. Eligible applicants include national or subnational non‑governmental organizations, particularly those with a track record in gender equality, participatory governance, communication for development, feminist approaches, and work with marginalized women and girls. Consortia are allowed, provided there is a lead agency with appropriate capacity.

The application process welcomes creative and inclusive submissions. Organizations may propose innovative ways to engage communities, such as arts, storytelling, or participatory dialogues. Those shortlisted may also receive support from UN Women in technical guidance to strengthen their interventions. Proposals will be assessed on their relevance, feasibility, sustainability, gender sensitivity, and potential to influence policies and public discourse.

Eligibility

This call is not only a funding opportunity but also a chance to join a movement to transform political spaces in Bangladesh. Organizations that can imagine bold, inclusive, and strategic efforts to place women in decision-making are encouraged to apply—and help create a democracy where voices of all are heard, and women hold their rightful place at the table.
