Call for Expressions of Interest: Empowering Women and Girls in Niger
About
The United Nations Population Fund has announced a call for expressions of interest from national NGOs in Niger to implement initiatives aimed at empowering women and girls.
The programme focuses on fostering self-promotion through sustainable management of natural resources, building capacity to access essential social services, promoting non-violent conflict resolution, strengthening resilience to climate change, and encouraging youth entrepreneurship.
With an indicative budget of 200,000, the initiative represents a significant opportunity for national NGOs to participate in transformative programmes that empower women and girls while promoting sustainable development and community resilience in Niger.
The call targets multiple locations across Niger, including Zinder, Maradi, Diffa, Tahoua, and the capital, Niamey. The sectors of focus include food security, with a particular emphasis on agricultural inputs, as well as livelihoods through animal production, fisheries and aquaculture, and technical and vocational education and training. These interventions are designed to provide practical skills and support sustainable income-generating activities for young women and girls.
Eligibility
Expected results from the programme include training at least 2,900 girls in skills such as batik dyeing, plastic waste recycling, basic sewing, and cattle fattening. In addition, the programme aims to develop at least two market garden sites, providing sustainable agricultural opportunities and contributing to local food security.
