The Zayed National Museum is excited to launch the third round of its funding scheme for Researchers and Scholars.

Building on its mission to preserve and showcase the legacy as well as the culture and history of the United Arab Emirates, the Museum’s Research Fund supports qualified researchers and scholars by providing funding covering a number of themes within the Museum.

Thematic Areas
  • The life and achievements of UAE’s Founding Father, in driving social, cultural and economic advancement both within the United Arab Emirates and the region.

  • The history and archaeology of the UAE, including archaeological fieldwork, laboratory analysis and archive research.

  • The intangible heritage of the UAE including oral history projects that focus on its living history, its recent past, its stories, traditions and songs.

  • The history and archaeology of the Arabian Peninsula, and south Asia (Pakistan, India, and Sri Lanka) focusing on how these regions interacted and engaged with the UAE from prehistory until the recent past.

  • Conferences and invited lectures which focus on any of the priority areas noted above.

Funding Information
  • There will be 10 small grants, to a maximum of 70,000 AED each, and 2 large grants for a maximum of 150,000 AED each, awarded. Large grant applications should provide a three-year research proposal and budget.

  • Duration: Large Grants can be extended for a further two years upon successful completion and reporting of year one. 

Costs Covered 
  • Grants can cover travel, accommodation, meals and incidental expenses, laboratory time and scientific analysis, allowances for research assistants and collaborators, equipment rental etc.

Eligibility

  • Application is open to all nationalities.

  • Application is open to students (undergraduate and graduate), academic faculty (including postdoctoral fellows), avocational researchers and members of the public.

  • Applicants must include the names of the two references who have reviewed the research proposal.
