CFPs: Support to Green and Digital Transformation in Botswana

The European Commission (EC) is calling for proposals to enhance civil society’s contribution in the development of the green and digital transformation in Botswana.
Objectives
The specific objectives of this call for proposals are:
Improve civil society active involvement in policy development and advocacy to support green transformation in Botswana and/or support the transition to a circular economy through community-based innovation and entrepreneurship (Lot 1 – Support to green transformation in Botswana).
Enhance civil society contribution to digital transformation in Botswana by strengthening citizens’ awareness, readiness and participation in the digital transformation process. (Lot 2 – Support to digital transformation in Botswana).
Priorities
The priorities of this call for proposals are listed below. Proposals are expected to address these priorities. There is however no minimum/maximum number of priorities that must be addressed by each concept note per chosen lot.
Lot 1 - Support to green transformation in Botswana
Strengthen civil society’s role to advocate for stronger climate policies and carbon reduction targets; monitor government commitments to international climate agreements; develop campaigns to educate the public on climate change, renewable energy and sustainable practices.
Foster the inclusion of women and youth in entrepreneurship initiatives on circular economy through capacity building and skills development.
Lot 2 - Support to digital transformation in Botswana
Strengthening citizens’ awareness and capacity to participate to Botswana’s digital transformation increasing their knowledge of the related processes as well as its benefits and risks.
Support and strengthening skills development in alignment to SmartBots’ principles of “Leaving no one behind’.
Support and strengthening development of online educational materials and/or online services dedicated to communities, students and/or citizens emphasising collaboration and dissemination via existent connected reality (i.e. libraries, community centres, etc.).
Strengthening the capacity and expertise of young people and/or minorities to allow for inclusive professional growth adapting to new opportunities and challenges that digital transformation brings.
Funding Information
The overall indicative amount made available under this call for proposals is EUR 1 476 000.00.
Indicative allocation of funds by lot:
Lot 1 Support to green transformation in Botswana – EUR 738 000.00
Lot 2 Support to digital transformation in Botswana – EUR 738 000.00
Size of grants
minimum amount: EUR 180 000.00
maximum amount: EUR 246 000.00
Duration
The initial planned duration of an action may not be lower than 24 months nor exceed 36 months.
Eligibility
In order to be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must:
be a legal person and
be non-profit-making and
be a specific type of organisation such as: a non-governmental organisation, or public sector operator, or a local authority and
be effectively established in a Member State of the European Union or in the Republic of Botswana and
be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the coapplicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary.
