About

The L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Program invites nominations for the 2027 International Awards to recognize outstanding women researchers for their contributions to scientific advancement worldwide.

The awards focus on scientific excellence, advancement of science, research impact, peer recognition through high-quality publications, global commitment to teaching and mentoring, contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and recognition across fields including physics, mathematics, computer and information sciences, chemistry, and earth and environmental sciences.

The 2027 International Awards will honour five outstanding women researchers, each representing a major region of the world including Africa and the Arab States, Asia and the Pacific, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, and North America. These awards are designed to celebrate exceptional contributions to the progress of science and to highlight the achievements of women scientists at the height of their careers.

Each laureate will receive a prize of €100,000 in recognition of her scientific achievements and impact in her respective field. The selection process is conducted by an international jury composed of distinguished scientific experts, ensuring that candidates are evaluated based on excellence, influence, and contributions to the global scientific community.

Eligibility

Eligible candidates must be actively engaged in high-level scientific research and recognized by the international scientific community for their work. The program places strong emphasis on candidates who demonstrate not only outstanding research contributions but also dedication to mentoring, teaching, and advancing global scientific progress.

Nominations for the awards are open between April 6 and June 30, 2026, and selected laureates will be honoured during the official awards ceremony to be held in June 2027 at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.

Since its establishment, the program has recognized eminent women scientists worldwide and continues to support and promote women in science across multiple disciplines and regions.
