About

UN Women is inviting applications for Rapid Gender Assessments in Ethiopia.

For better decision-making in humanitarian settings and coordinated gender programming that consider the agency and special needs of women and girls, UN Women Ethiopia Country Office is seeking to conduct Rapid Gender Assessments (RGAs) of humanitarian emergencies in Ethiopia. Through this Call for Proposals, UN Women seeks to identify a Responsible Party (RP) to conduct data collection for RGAs and develop and deliver trainings on RGAs.

Components
  • The project must include the following components:

    • Collection of primary and secondary data on the gendered impacts, vulnerabilities, coping mechanisms, needs and agency in at least three humanitarian emergencies in Ethiopia

    • Primary processing of the data (including translation into English) for UN Women to conduct the RGA

    • Development of a training curriculum and materials on how to plan and conduct RGAs for humanitarian actors (government, UN agencies, international, national and local non-governmental organizations)

    • Delivery of two rounds of training.

The data collected must cover the following topics:

  • How are different demographic groups (gender and age disaggregated) affected?

  • What protection do these groups receive and what protection needs exist?

  • What are the capacities of these groups to respond to the crisis and mitigate its effects?

  • How are men and women influencing and participating in decision making regarding humanitarian response (informally and formally)?

  • How do different groups access services and what are their needs regarding this?

  • Has the crisis affected existing gender roles?
