UN Women Call for Proposals: Art and Resilience Against Gender Violence (Ecuador)

UN Women has announced a Call for Proposals for Art and Resilience: Women Confronting Violence in their communities and strategies to resignify them.

The United Nations System in Ecuador is strengthening its presence and coordinated interventions on the northern and southern borders of Ecuador. Within this coordinated framework, this proposal seeks to strengthen the efforts of UN Women aimed at supporting Ecuadorian state and humanitarian actors to generate actions towards gender equality and the empowerment of refugee women or women in situations of human mobility and their hosts. , to reduce gender-based vulnerabilities, promote resilience, and provide durable solutions for women, their families, and host communities in Ecuador.

The Strategic Note 2019-2022 of UN Women in Ecuador, sets as an objective for the four years to contribute to gender equality in Ecuador and the empowerment of all women and girls, including the full exercise of their human rights. To achieve this goal, it will work with local and national institutions to promote livelihood generation for women, especially from priority groups, and to strengthen multisectoral responses that address violence against women and girls in development and humanitarian contexts.

The implementing partner shall:

  • Strengthen knowledge and capacities of Organizations, groups and/or cultural promoters/managers in art on human mobility, psychosocial containment and prevention of gender violence.

  • Development of local feminist art proposals based on the resignification and resilience of migratory processes, GBV and the promotion of spaces for social cohesion from organizations, groups and/or local women artists in the seven implementation territories.

Priorities

  • The six priority areas are:

    • Expand women's voices, leadership and participation.

    • Eliminate violence against women and girls.

    • Strengthen the implementation of the women's peace and security agenda.

    • Increase the economic autonomy of women.

    • Make gender equality priorities central to national, local, and sectoral plans, budgets, and statistics.

    • Implement global standards, policies and benchmarks on gender equality and women's empowerment, laying the foundation for action by governments and other stakeholders at all levels.

Funding Information
  • The budget range for this proposal should be USD 63,000 to 70,000.

Competencies
  • Required technical/functional skills

  • Other skills that, although not required, may constitute an advantage for the provision of services

  • The bidding NGO must have the following experience:

    • At least 3 years of experience in artistic production and/or artistic and cultural projects.

    • At least 1 year of proven experience in gender equality issues, with special attention to gender violence. 

    • At least 1 year of proven experience in activities related to strengthening artistic skills and abilities, mainly with women and/or vulnerable populations.  

  • Coordinator:

    • Professional in arts, sociology, anthropology, social sciences, humanities, and/or related studies in human rights, gender, or others related to the position.

    • Experience of at least 2 years of coordination of social, cultural and gender-focused projects, including experience in preparing reports, monitoring activities and meeting goals.

  • Technical specialist in gender, human rights and/or human mobility:

    • Professional in social sciences, politics, humanities or related.

    • Experience of at least 2 years in the design of participatory methodologies for training in gender, human mobility and/or human rights issues.

    • Desirable previous work in women's rights and/or gender violence; and human mobility. 

  • Technician in communication and/or contemporary arts:

    • Professional in communication, creative design, audiovisual production and/or contemporary art or related.

    • Experience of at least 2 years in management of cultural and art projects.

    • Desirable previous work in women's rights and/or gender violence; and human mobility. 

  • Technician in psychosocial assistance:

    • Professional in psychology or social work.

    • Experience of at least 2 years working with women, with special emphasis on victims/survivors of GBV.

    • Desirable previous work in women's rights and/or gender violence; and human mobility.
