Request for Applications: Direct Aid Program for Community Development
من نحن
The Direct Aid Program (DAP) is a small grants initiative funded by Australia’s aid budget and administered by the Australian Embassy in Egypt, with accreditation to Sudan and Eritrea. The program provides financial support to community-based development projects that deliver practical and tangible outcomes across Egypt, Sudan, and Eritrea.
Grants are available for projects led by NGOs, community groups, academic institutions, research bodies, libraries, museums, and other not-for-profit organizations. Supported activities may span diverse sectors, including education, health, water and sanitation, environmental protection, women’s empowerment and gender equality, disability inclusion, economic livelihoods, food security, and human rights.
Projects can run for up to two years and must demonstrate clear objectives, realistic timelines, and accurate budgets with detailed cost breakdowns and plans for recurrent expenses. Applications are assessed competitively, and due to the high volume of submissions, individual feedback is not provided.
معايير القبول
Eligible applicants include not-for-profit organizations, NGOs, academic institutions, research bodies, libraries, museums, and community groups operating in Egypt, Sudan, or Eritrea. Proposals must demonstrate strong community engagement, sustainability, and alignment with local development priorities. Applications must include a child protection policy if the project involves minors.
The program does not fund projects primarily focused on commercial ventures, salaries, rental of land or assets, major sporting events, government-run initiatives, or activities that primarily promote Australian interests. Evaluation will consider the project’s feasibility, impact, and the applicant’s capacity to deliver results effectively.
