The Japan Foundation, Bangkok (JFBKK) invites non‑profit organizations in Thailand to apply for the 2026 Small Grant Program, designed to strengthen Japanese arts, culture, and academic exchange through collaborative initiatives. The program supports projects that deepen understanding of Japanese culture within the Thai community and foster two‑way intellectual and cultural collaboration between Japanese and Thai professionals. Eligible activities include international cultural exchange events such as exhibitions, performing arts, and film screenings, as well as academic initiatives like joint research, conferences, seminars, and intensive courses that expand Japanese studies in Thailand. Collaborative projects that nurture the next generation of human resources through networking and exchange are also encouraged. Priority is given to innovative projects that broaden Japanese studies in the humanities and social sciences, generate published outcomes from joint research or conferences, and introduce pioneering approaches. Grants are awarded on a cost‑sharing basis, with funding up to 50,000 THB for Category A projects and up to 100,000 THB for Category B projects. Eligible costs include transportation, honoraria, accommodation, production of materials, and venue or equipment rental. Grants cannot be used for staff salaries, entertainment, office supplies, or capital expenses. Projects must be implemented in Thailand and completed within the Japanese fiscal year (April 1 – March 31).

Applicants must be non‑profit organizations such as universities, research institutes, academic associations, or NGOs/NPOs based in Thailand. Individuals and for‑profit entities are not eligible. Projects must be carried out in Thailand and completed within the fiscal year. Proposals focused solely on natural sciences, Japanese language education, commercial, political, or religious activities are ineligible. Applications are accepted four times annually, with the next deadline on November 10, 2026, for projects beginning January 1 onwards. Submissions must be made by email and should include supporting documents such as institutional profiles and budget plans. Results are announced by the end of the submission month for the second, third, and fourth rounds.
