CFAs: Media Literacy and Capacity Building Workshop Series (Indonesia)
من نحن
The Media Literacy and Capacity Building Workshop Series (MLCBWS) aims to strengthen the professional capacity of Indonesian journalists through advanced training and mentorship. Delivered via the U.S.-Indonesia Journalism Excellence Academy and regional workshops across Indonesia, the program provides specialized instruction in media literacy, fact-checking, digital verification, data journalism, and critical information evaluation. Participants will also gain knowledge of democratic systems, U.S. foreign policy, transnational security issues, and Indo-Pacific geopolitics.
The initiative seeks to enhance democratic governance, freedom of expression, digital freedom, and information integrity in Indonesia by equipping journalists with the skills to produce accurate, analytical, and impactful reporting. It further supports informed public understanding of governance, security, economic affairs, and emerging technologies. Selected journalists will be encouraged to share knowledge within their newsrooms and communities, fostering a cohort of leaders who mentor colleagues and promote best practices.
The program will be implemented as a cooperative agreement in close collaboration with the U.S. Embassy Jakarta, which will oversee training schedules, participant selection, content review, and coordination with U.S. experts. The total estimated funding is $250,000, with awards ranging between $200,000 and $250,000.
