من نحن

The World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking proposals from qualified non-profit organizations to support the promotion of locally sourced school canteens through Home-Grown School Feeding (HGSF) initiatives in the Guirko region, Province du Houet, Burkina Faso. Building on WFP’s longstanding support to strengthen national school feeding and nutrition systems, this initiative aims to improve food and nutrition security among schoolchildren while creating sustainable market opportunities for local producers. The program promotes decentralized food procurement and the provision of safe, diverse, and nutritious school meals sourced from local agricultural production. Through a multisectoral approach, the project will strengthen community ownership of school feeding systems by supporting activities such as local food production, school gardens, water infrastructure development, nutrition-sensitive school meal planning, and measures that enhance environmental sustainability and resilience. The intervention targets school-age children and local farming communities in food-insecure areas of the Guirko region and is expected to include regular monitoring of menu diversity, increased use of locally produced foods, and compliance with hygiene and food safety standards to improve students’ nutritional outcomes. Grant size and project duration were not specified in the call documentation.
