Apply for Low-Emission Agriculture and Livestock Production (Mexico)
من نحن
The Low-emission Agriculture and Livestock Production project call supports Mexico’s efforts to reduce livestock emissions through improved practices, policies, and financing opportunities.
The focus areas of the project include reducing methane and nitrous oxide emissions from livestock, evidence-based policy design, capacity building, improved manure management, diet optimization, improved grazing management systems, optimal fertilizer use in livestock areas, manure application to fields, integration of legumes into degraded pasture lands, and access to financing to support the adoption and scaling of mitigation measures. The estimated project cost is $1,000,000.
The project responds to a request from the Government of Mexico through the Ministries of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT) and Agriculture and Rural Development (SADER) to support the implementation of a National Roadmap and Strategy for Methane Reduction in the Livestock Sector.
The project will support scalable mitigation measures while helping farmers and producers implement priority actions and access new financial mechanisms. It aligns with Mexico’s Climate Change Strategic Plan for the Agrifood Sector, National Strategy for SLCP Mitigation, National Soil Strategy for Sustainable Agriculture, National Development Plan (PND), and Global Methane Pledge Agriculture and Waste Pathways commitments.
